ISLAMABAD: A district and sessions court in Islamabad on Wednesday sentenced a man to death for raping his stepdaughter repeatedly over a period of one year in the absence of her mother.
The court also ordered the convict, identified as Iftikhar, to pay Rs3.5 million in fines and compensation to the victim and the child born as a result of the crime.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Sohail announced the verdict after finding the accused guilty.
According to the written judgment, the court sentenced Iftikhar to death and imposed a fine of Rs500,000. It also ordered him to pay Rs1 million in compensation to the victim and Rs2 million for the care and maintenance of the child.
The court relied on forensic evidence presented during the trial. DNA testing conducted by the Punjab Forensic Science Agency linked the accused to the crime.
According to the judgment, the DNA profile of the child born following the assault matched that of the convict, supporting the prosecution’s case.
The case was registered at Shahzad Town Police Station in February 2025 on the complaint of the victim’s mother.
After examining the evidence, the court convicted Iftikhar and handed down the death sentence, along with the fine and compensation orders.
The judgment further directed the convict to bear the financial responsibility for the child’s care and maintenance by paying Rs2 million.
