Markus Krosche, whom Milan pursued to lead their new front office last summer, has suddenly resigned from Eintracht Frankfurt, clearing the main hurdle that kept him from joining in previous months, Sky Italy reports.
The contacts with the Rossoneri will restart soon. The parties will try to reach an agreement, which won’t focus only on his contract and salary. Owner Gerry Cardinale has been very involved since firing most of their officials.
Milan wanted to hire Krosche as head of football last summer. He would have come with his top collaborators, starting with Timmo Hardung, had Eintracht Frankfurt released him from his contract. However, they moved too late. The German side had already started planning for the next season and wouldn’t have had time to find another top-notch director.
The 46-year-old took the job in 2021 and contributed to a few successful seasons, including a third-place finish in 2024/2025 and the UEFA Europa League triumph in 2022. Instead, Die Adler are off to a slow start this campaign. They currently sit in 11th place in the Bundesliga. However, they aren’t too distant from the top six positions point-wise.
The Rossoneri are keen on hiring a new apical director. They passed on such a proposition after missing out on their preferred option. They have recently been linked also to Mehdi Benatia, Devin Ozerk, and José Boto, Mediaset reports.
Our Take on Milan and Krosche
His appointment should be a no-brainer considering what happened last summer. Only a delay would justify standing pat in such important roles. Still, Cardinale may have liked being hands-on so much that he no longer wants to share the spotlight with a touted executive.
