CJP Leaders Sent To Tihar Jail, Jantar Mantar Barricade Breach, Prohibitory Norm Row
Two co-conveners of the Cockroach Janta Party, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, have been remanded to five days of judicial custody and sent to Tihar Jail by Delhi Police. Another member, Ajinkya Shinde, was released after furnishing a peace bond of five thousand rupees with conditions to maintain peace for six months. The arrests follow allegations of breaching barricades, trespassing at Jantar Mantar and an adjacent political party office, and violating prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. Das and Ranka had previously signed a one-year peace bond before an executive magistrate following detention on 10 October. Party founder Abhijit Dipke criticised the police action, stating the members were targeted merely for waving the national flag, while questions were raised regarding the invoking of judicial custody over breach of peace bond conditions.
