BOSTON — Tanner Jeannot’s first fight of the year was one-sided, as the Bruins winger pummeled Sharks center Zack Ostapchuk.
After quite a bit of chatter, Jeannot (6-foot-2, 222 pounds) and Ostapchuk (6-foot-4, 215 pounds) dropped the gloves early in the third period.
The bout began with grappling for position, and when Jeannot shook his right arm free, it was bad news for Ostapchuk. After landing an overhand shot, Jeannot fed Ostapchuk a flurry of uppercuts and the San Jose forward crumbled to the ice, looking like he’d bitten off more than he could chew.
Both men were given five minute majors for fighting with no additional penalties.
It was the second fight of the night, Sharks defenseman Michael Kesselring fought Mark Kastelic after the Bruins forward boarded him late in the second period.
