GOVT WILL NOT SPEND RESOURCES TRACKING ZAMBIANS ABROAD DISPARAGING PRESIDENT HICHILEMA ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security Permanent Secretary for technical services Dickson Matembo says government will not spend resources tracking down Zambians living abroad who continue to disparage President Hakainde Hichilema on social media.
In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr. Matembo says President Hichilema is unlikely to be affected by statements intended to tarnish his image, arguing that the head of state could even choose to retire from office without losing anything.
He says although the recent cancellation of passports for some Zambians living abroad has not helped curb the trend, those criticizing government should consider the potential consequences of their remarks for the country’s international image and the welfare of ordinary citizens and their families.
Mr. Matembo further states that the President has taken on the responsibility of serving the country and addressing alleged abuses that previously benefited some business people, suggesting that some of those criticizing government may have been affected by efforts to close such loopholes.
He has also urged government critics to go beyond criticism by offering constructive alternatives and practical solutions to the country’s challenges.
