Meta has partnered with SanDisk to give its upcoming VR glasses something that could matter to users as much as the headset itself: more room for games, apps and immersive content. SanDisk announced that it would become the exclusive provider of flash storage solutions for Meta VR Glasses. The partnership will bring dedicated storage accessories into Meta’s official ‘Made for Meta’ ecosystem, with both companies working together on products designed specifically for the headset.
The announcement also points to a practical concern for VR users. As games and media libraries grow, built-in storage may not be enough for everyone. The new accessories are intended to give users another way to store and access their content.
SanDisk to Offer microSD Express Cards and USB-C Drives
The upcoming range will include SanDisk microSD Express memory cards and USB-C flash drives. Both product types have been tested and certified for use with Meta VR Glasses, according to the announcement.
The microSD Express cards will provide additional storage through a memory card, while USB-C flash drives will offer another option for managing files and content. The accessories are being developed to support libraries of VR games, applications and immersive media.
However, SanDisk has not yet revealed the available storage capacities, prices or detailed performance figures for the Meta-specific products.
What Does ‘Made for Meta’ Certification Mean?
The accessories will carry Meta’s ‘Made for Meta’ designation, which means they have been tested against the company’s requirements for compatible products. According to SanDisk, the testing process is designed to check performance and compatibility, including sustained data transfer and plug-and-play operation.
This matters for devices handling large files, where storage performance can affect how smoothly users access their content. The partnership gives buyers an officially certified storage option rather than leaving them to guess which third-party accessories will work as intended.

Launch Set for Spring 2027
SanDisk’s storage products are scheduled to arrive alongside Meta VR Glasses in spring 2027. They are expected to be sold in markets where the headset is officially available. For now, several details remain unanswered. Neither the pricing of the storage accessories nor their exact capacities has been announced. Country-specific availability for the headset and its accessories also remains unclear.
The partnership establishes SanDisk as Meta’s exclusive storage provider for the upcoming glasses, but buyers will have to wait for the full specifications to see which options offer the best balance of capacity, speed and price.
