YouTube Music is rolling out a Made with AI label for tracks created primarily with generative AI, The Verge reported Wednesday. YouTube confirmed that the feature begins on October 14 and will later reach its main app.
The company said the label covers music in which AI plays a significant role, including songs whose composition and vocals were produced using a generative model.
Listeners will see the disclosure on a track’s player page. Tapping it opens a menu with additional information about the AI involvement, according to YouTube’s announcement.
YouTube said it is working with music partners and using its own detection tools to identify AI-generated tracks. The system applies labeling principles already used across the platform.
The Verge reported that music partners can disclose generative AI use when uploading tracks. YouTube may also rely on other signals when a disclosure is absent.
The approach focuses on substantial AI generation or alteration rather than every use of an AI tool in music production. YouTube has not specified a date for the labels’ expansion to its main app.
