The Kansas City Chiefs are bouncing back to top form in 2026. After falling apart last year, head coach Andy Reid and QB Patrick Mahomes have gotten a huge lift from RB Kenneth Walker III, and the Chiefs are off to an unbeaten 5-0 start.
The Seattle Seahawks are the defending Super Bowl champions, but they are just 3-3 as head coach Mike Macdonald’s team has been hit with a large dose of inconsistency. As a result, they have fallen 3.0 games behind the San Francisco 49ers in the highly competitive NFC West.
While there are still 11 games left to this season, the Seahawks will have to pick up their overall level if they are going to get back to the playoffs and make a run at defending their Super Bowl title.

One of the key areas that must improve is their QB play, and Sam Darnold has a long way to go before he can match what he did last year. Darnold certainly has the experience and knowledge to overcome adversity, but he must avoid the inaccuracies that have been an issue in some of the Seahawks’ losses this season. He has just a 7-7 TD-interception ratio.
Walker will run for 125-plus yards against his old team
One of the reasons the Chiefs have gotten out of the gate so quickly is the performance of Kenneth Walker III. The Chiefs knew they were getting a speedy and explosive running back when they signed him as a free agent in the offseason, but his consistency and his ability to sustain his runs may have exceeded their expectations.
Walker has the ability to get to the outside quickly and then wait for his offensive line to finish their blocks before taking off in somewhat shocking fashion.
He can also use his flat-out speed to turn the corner before the defense is prepared to hem him in. It is very difficult for opposing defenses to set the edge when Walker has the ball under his arms. He is the leading runner in the league with 665 yards and a 6.3 yards per carry average. He is averaging 133.0 yards per game and his performance has eased the burden on QB Patrick Mahomes.
It seems that Walker has used his performance as the Super Bowl MVP as a jumping off point with his new team. He is clearly on fire, and he is very likely to show the Seahawks what they are missing this year.
This will be a substantial test for both Walker and the Seattle defense. The Seahawks are allowing the fewest yards per game in the NFL, but their rush defense is only 10th. Macdonald knows how important Walker is to the Chiefs and they will try to slow him down, but Walker will get it done against his former employer.
Smith-Njigba will attack Chiefs secondary and record 125 yards and 1 TD

The Seahawks want to have a balanced attack and that means production from the running game because they don’t want to put too much of a burden on Darnold. That philosophy certainly worked a year ago when they had Walker and Zach Charbonnet delivering one of the most productive ground games in the league.
Walker left in free agency and Charbonnet has not played yet due to an ACL injury. He is expected to play this week. That will make things much easier for Darnold since the Seattle ground attack has been ordinary this year. Emanuel Wilson leads the team with 303 yards, a 3.5 yards per carry average and 2 rushing touchdowns. Rookie Jadarian Price has been limited to 28 carries and 119 yards because of a chest injury. He is also getting closer to a return.
However, the presence of dominating WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba gives the Seahawks a fighting chance in every game. He is clearly a superstar and ranks with the best receivers in the league. He has been targeted 65 times to this point and he has 49 receptions for 717 yards and 7 touchdowns.
Smith-Njigba can flash his speed and elusiveness, and he is an excellent pattern runner with spectacular body control. That characteristic allows him to adjust to poorly thrown passes in flight without losing a step or his balance. He also has great hands. If he ever drops or bobbles a pass, it is a shocker to those watching.
The Chiefs rank 13th in pass defense as they are allowing 217.2 yards per game, and Smith-Njigba will take advantage of that figure and break through the 125-yard mark as he attempts to help the Seahawks get a key win at home.
Chiefs stay unbeaten by pulling off key road victory
The Chiefs are still angry that they fell to 6-11 last year and ended up in third place in the AFC West. This team is used to dominating the AFC and they want to show the rest of the league that last year was a fluke.
The Seahawks need a win very badly, but they have turned the ball over 12 times this year and an opportunistic team like the Chiefs will take advantage.
The presence of Walker has been huge for Mahomes, and he will make the quarterback will make the key throws at the end of the game that secure the victory for the resurgent Chiefs.
