We don't hear a lot about Justice Hill, with Derrick Henry dominating in Baltimore. But here's why Hill is a must-add in fantasy leagues.
First, Hill appears to be Henry's clear handcuff. 2024 fifth-round pick Rasheen Ali is behind him on the depth chart. Ali is a special teamer with zero offensive touches this season and a career 3.2 yards per carry.
Hill has run brilliantly throughout his career, averaging 4.9 yards per carry and showing downfield prowess, including seven receptions in his last three games. He was a bell cow at Oklahoma State and has handled double-digit touches 11 times in the NFL.
The question is how much fantasy managers should trust Henry to stay healthy through the end of the season. The future Hall of Famer will turn 33 in January. He's leading the league with 130 carries and is on pace for 394 touches. Surely he can handle it... because he's Derrick Henry.
But he's also human, and in recent weeks he's looked more human than ever. His career-low 4.1 yards per carry is partly due to career lows in rushing yards after first contact and his broken-tackle rate.
Fantasy managers rightly love that he has eight touchdowns. He's meeting, if not exceeding, preseason expectations.
However, the Ravens might not want him to approach 400 touches, especially if they keep looking like a playoff contender. He's recently scuffled against the Titans and Cowboys, two teams whose defenses usually struggle against the run. Some argue Henry has lost a step, despite his strong fantasy production.
This is the time to stash Hill.
