The ALCS continues Friday night with the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Guardians in Game 4 at Progressive Field, with first pitch set for 8 p.m. ET. The Guardians hold a 2-1 series lead, with the AL pennant and a World Series date with the Milwaukee Brewers on the line.
The Guardians took the series lead Thursday afternoon with a 3-2 win over the Rays, with a two-run homer from Petey Halpin off Griffin Jax in the fifth to put Cleveland on top.
The Rays will start right-hander Nick Martinez (15-6, 3.10 ERA) as they look to even the series. Martinez last pitched against the New York Yankees in Game 3 of the ALDS, striking out three while allowing 5 hits, 2 earned runs and 1 walk over 3 2/3 innings.
Right-hander Shawn Armstrong (0-0, 4.58 ERA) will open for the Guardians against his former team, making his first career postseason start after appearing in 131 games for Tampa Bay over four seasons. Armstrong struck out one and allowed one hit over 1 2/3 innings of relief against the Rays in Game 2, and Cleveland is expected to lean on its bullpen behind him.
