What exactly is 42-years-old in NFL years?
To former NFL quarter back Tom Brady, it would probably be around 25. Yet, to Philip Rivers, it would probably be 98. But to Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers? Age is just a number.
Unless you do a squat.
And former defensive end J.J. Watt is absolutely loving it.
On Wednesday’s “The Pat McAfee Show,” the former Houston Texans player put Rodgers up on a pedestal, but is also keeping his ego in check.
“Happy that Aaron Rodgers looks very young,” McAfee said. “When you talk to him pregame, for the lead up to the game, what did it feel like? Cause after the game, the interview he gave feels like he is the happiest, most free, and very pumped about what this Steelers team can be.”
“Aaron is moving pretty well,” Watt agreed. “I watch him out there and he is moving around pretty well. He’s getting out of the pocket, he’s actually scrambling for some yards. Against Cleveland, he had the five sacks – which obviously wasn’t a good night – but if you look at the totality of his film and some of the movements that he’s been able to make this year, you can tell that he is feeling pretty good.”
Watt then spoke about how Rodgers talked to him about the major difference between Week 1 last season and Week 1 this season.
“Prior to Week 1 last year, he tweaked his back squatting --- which is funny in its own right. Why is a 42-year-old quarterback squatting? But I respect the hell out of it. But that’s why he said he didn’t feel that good moving around last year and he said he feels a whole lot better this year and I think you can tell.”
