XRP's price faces competing pressures in October 2026 as institutional investment, blockchain adoption, and macroeconomic uncertainty influence cryptocurrency markets. Despite expanding XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and Ripple's financial partnerships, weakening investor sentiment has limited price recovery.
XRP Price Declines Despite Institutional Demand
XRP traded around USD 1.30 in mid-October, reflecting continued volatility across digital assets. Market data suggests that XRP declined approximately 8.7% during the week ending October 16, compared with Bitcoin's 1.7% decline and Ethereum's 3.4% loss. The divergence highlights XRP's sensitivity to broader cryptocurrency selling, even when institutional investment remains substantial.
XRP ETF Flows Signal Changing Sentiment
US spot XRP ETFs recorded approximately USD 1.84 million in net withdrawals during October 12-16, ending 13 consecutive weeks of inflows. SoSoValue reported that cumulative inflows approached USD 1.8 billion, while ETF assets totaled approximately USD 1.47 billion.
Canary Capital's XRPC contributed significantly to the weekly reversal, including approximately USD 2.47 million in Friday withdrawals. Although modest relative to total assets, the outflows indicate that institutional demand can fluctuate.
Ripple Adoption and RLUSD Expansion
Ripple's institutional partnerships are strengthening XRP Ledger infrastructure. Standard Chartered launched institutional custody services for RLUSD through its Dubai International Financial Centre branch in October.
Meanwhile, Stripe-owned Privy introduced programmable wallet infrastructure supporting XRP and RLUSD, potentially expanding blockchain payments and automated transactions. DriveWealth also announced plans to integrate RLUSD into brokerage settlement and cross-border payments. However, RLUSD adoption does not automatically increase XRP demand because the stablecoin and native cryptocurrency serve different purposes.
Derivatives and Macroeconomic Risks
XRP derivatives activity also influences short-term volatility. According to XRPLinsights, XRP open interest declined from approximately USD 4.10 billion in September to USD 3.15 billion by October 10, suggesting reduced leveraged exposure.
Meanwhile, persistent US inflation and interest-rate uncertainty could pressure cryptocurrency valuations by strengthening demand for traditional interest-bearing investments. Traders are watching USD 1.30 as a near-term support, though technical thresholds cannot guarantee future price movements.
Final Thoughts
XRP's October outlook remains influenced by ETF demand, Ripple's expanding financial infrastructure, and broader market liquidity. Sustained institutional inflows and stronger network activity could support recovery, but investors should assess interest-rate risks, leveraged trading and overall cryptocurrency sentiment before concluding.

FAQs:
1. What factors are influencing XRP's price in October 2026?
XRP's price is influenced by ETF inflows and outflows, institutional adoption, derivatives positioning, broader cryptocurrency sentiment and US interest-rate expectations. Ripple's expanding financial partnerships may strengthen XRP Ledger activity, although increased network adoption does not automatically translate into higher XRP prices.
2. How are XRP ETF inflows and outflows affecting its market performance?
According to SoSoValue, US spot XRP ETFs recorded approximately USD 1.84 million in net outflows during October 12–16, ending 13 consecutive weeks of inflows. Despite the weekly reversal, cumulative ETF inflows approached USD 1.8 billion, indicating substantial historical institutional investment.
3. Does Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin adoption increase XRP's price?
RLUSD adoption can potentially increase activity, liquidity and institutional participation across the XRP Ledger ecosystem. However, RLUSD is a dollar-pegged stablecoin, while XRP is a separate market-priced cryptocurrency, so growing stablecoin usage does not guarantee XRP price appreciation.
4. Why is XRP derivatives open interest important for price movements?
Open interest measures the value of outstanding derivatives positions and helps traders assess leveraged market participation. According to XRPLinsights, XRP open interest declined from approximately USD 4.10 billion in September to USD 3.15 billion by October 10, suggesting reduced leveraged exposure.
5. Can XRP recover above USD 1.30 in October 2026?
XRP could strengthen if ETF demand improves, institutional adoption expands and broader cryptocurrency market conditions stabilize. However, persistent inflation, interest-rate uncertainty and selling pressure could limit recovery, while the USD 1.30 support level remains a technical reference rather than a guaranteed price floor.
