KOTA BARU: Kelantan police have recorded six school bullying cases in the state from January to date.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said of the total, one case has been charged in court.
He said three cases are still under investigation, while the remaining two have been classified as No Further Action (NFA).
"This figure is part of the 5,681 bullying cases reported in schools nationwide from January to August, as announced by the prime minister on Oct 6.
"The issue of bullying and violence among students must be taken seriously. The deaths of the late Muhammad Idlan Fareeq Shahril in Negri Sembilan and the late Irene Sofiya in Johor serve as stark reminders that youth violence cannot be taken lightly.
"We must learn from these incidents and strengthen preventive measures to ensure such tragedies do not recur," he said during the Kelantan police headquarters monthly assembly here today.
Yusoff directed all district police chiefs and School Liaison Officers to strengthen cooperation with schools, parents, and local communities.
"Every complaint must be given due attention, and every action must be carried out professionally. Do not wait for a tragedy to occur before taking action.
"Ensure schools remain safe environments for children to acquire knowledge, build their dreams, and grow up without fear. Remember, protecting today's younger generation means safeguarding the nation's future," he said.
