Cryptocurrency exchange BingX has secured a MiCA license through its European subsidiary, MEGE zweite GmbH, after Austria’s financial regulator approved four crypto services on October 13, opening the way for a planned expansion across 29 European markets.
Summary
- BingX EU received Austrian authorization to provide four cryptocurrency services under Europe’s MiCA regulatory framework.
- Austria’s FMA granted the license to MEGE zweite GmbH on October 13, according to regulators.
- Company plans to serve 29 EEA countries, subject to completing required cross-border notification procedures first.
- Approval covers crypto custody, cash exchanges, token swaps, and transfers, but excludes other trading services.
- BingX EU has not announced a date for launching its regulated services across European markets.
Austria’s Financial Market Authority (FMA) confirmed the authorization in a notice published on October 14. The approval allows BingX EU to provide cryptocurrency custody, exchanges between cryptocurrencies and conventional money, crypto-to-crypto exchanges, and digital asset transfer services. The company is preparing to introduce regulated services across the European Economic Area (EEA), subject to passporting requirements.
BingX MiCA license covers four crypto services
The authorization was issued to MEGE zweite GmbH, the Austrian company operating as BingX EU. The regulator identified the entity under company registration number FN 666009a and approved its activities under Article 63 of the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation.
The FMA’s decision covers four specific services. BingX EU can hold and administer crypto assets for customers, exchange cryptocurrencies for conventional money, facilitate exchanges between different crypto assets, and transfer digital assets on behalf of clients.

BingX EU is now MiCA licensed, bringing regulated digital asset services to users across the EEA.

The license does not authorize every service that a cryptocurrency exchange might provide. The regulator’s published list does not include operating a multilateral crypto trading platform, managing customer portfolios, providing investment advice or executing leveraged derivatives contracts.
BingX EU’s authorization therefore covers the services specifically listed in the regulatory notice. Any expansion into other regulated activities would need to comply with the applicable authorization requirements.
The exchange announced the development on October 14, explaining that the approval would support services for individual and institutional customers across Europe.
Its statement identified 29 EEA countries as the planned service area, although access in individual jurisdictions remains subject to the required cross-border arrangements.
BingX EU did not provide a date for making its regulated services available across those markets. The announcement instead confirmed that preparations were continuing alongside discussions with Austrian and other European regulators.
BingX plans to expand across 29 European markets
BingX EU intends to use its Austrian authorization to reach customers beyond the country where its European entity is established.
Under MiCA, authorized crypto asset service providers can offer approved services in other participating European markets through a process known as passporting. The framework allows firms to use authorization from their home regulator while satisfying the required cross-border notification procedures.
The European Securities and Markets Authority’s Article 65 rules explain how this process works.
Companies must notify their home regulator about the countries they intend to serve, the services they plan to offer and the expected starting date. The notification must contain information about other activities carried out by the provider.
The home regulator then forwards the relevant information to the authorities in the destination countries, along with European supervisory bodies.
Under the regulation, the home authority has 10 working days to communicate the notification. A company may begin providing the notified services after receiving confirmation that the information has been forwarded, or no later than the fifteenth calendar day after submitting the required details.
BingX EU has not confirmed the completion of those steps for every market covered by its expansion plans.
The company’s chief executive, Daniel Lai, said the authorization would allow the business to develop locally regulated crypto services for European users.
“Our priority is to provide European users with trusted and locally regulated trading experience,” Lai said in the company announcement.
He explained that operating under MiCA would provide a common regulatory framework for the company’s European activities, including requirements concerning security, transparency and accountability.
The executive did not announce a launch date or identify which EEA market would receive the new services first.
BingX receives approval after months of regulatory review
The license follows a regulatory application process that BingX had previously discussed with its customers.
In a June 16 update, the exchange confirmed that its European subsidiary had submitted an application to Austria’s FMA.
At that stage, BingX explained that its application was still under review and that no MiCA authorization had been granted.
The company described the process as advanced but said it was responding to outstanding regulatory questions. It cautioned that an application should not be treated as regulatory approval.
The October 13 decision confirms that MEGE zweite GmbH subsequently obtained authorization from the Austrian authority.
The approval arrives after the European Union’s final MiCA transition deadline on July 1, 2026. Existing crypto service providers had been allowed to continue operating under certain national arrangements while preparing to meet the common European requirements.
The transition period had a maximum duration of 18 months after MiCA’s crypto service provider rules became applicable in December 2024. Individual EU countries could set shorter periods.
As explained in an earlier guide to Europe’s MiCA crypto regulations, the framework established common requirements for cryptocurrency service providers, covering authorization, customer safeguards and operating standards.
The rules require authorized providers to maintain appropriate governance systems and meet applicable obligations concerning client assets, financial resources and operational risks.
BingX EU’s license confirms that the Austrian regulator authorized the entity for the four specified crypto services. The announcement does not establish regulatory authorization for separate BingX entities operating outside Austria.
Other crypto firms have secured Austrian MiCA licenses
Austria has granted MiCA authorizations to several other cryptocurrency businesses seeking access to the European market.
In November 2025, the Austrian subsidiary of Swiss cryptocurrency bank AMINA received approval to provide regulated digital asset services.
The AMINA Bank MiCA authorization in Austria covered custody, trading and portfolio management services for professional investors.
The authorization allowed AMINA’s European subsidiary to prepare its regulated operations under the EU framework while remaining subject to Austrian supervision.
Another cryptocurrency exchange, WhiteBIT EU, secured MiCA authorization in Austria in June 2026 through WB-Shield Innovations GmbH.
The WhiteBIT European regulatory approval covered cryptocurrency services offered under the company’s Austrian entity.
Similar approvals have been granted elsewhere in Europe. In May 2026, digital asset liquidity provider B2C2 received authorization in Luxembourg to expand its regulated crypto services through MiCA passporting.
The B2C2 European crypto trading license allowed the company to prepare cross-border services under the regulatory framework.
European authorities maintain public information about authorized cryptocurrency providers and the services they are permitted to offer.
In August 2026, the MiCA Crypto Alliance introduced a searchable database using European Securities and Markets Authority records.
Meanwhile, the MiCA crypto licensing tracker allows users to review participating firms by country, regulator, authorization date and licensed activities.
For BingX EU, the next stage involves completing the required passporting arrangements and preparing its regulated services for launch. The October 14 company announcement said it would continue working with Austria’s FMA and other European authorities, but did not disclose an opening date for the 29 markets.
