Through this campaign, the company aims to encourage “the use of public transport”, offering passengers a more economical alternative at a time when fuel prices continue to rise.
The campaign runs until 30 November, and the 100,000 tickets will connect passengers to “hundreds of destinations in Portugal”, with the company guaranteeing that the available routes will cover the country’s main passenger departure and arrival points. Through the “Poucochinho” campaign, Rede Expressos also aims to “expand mobility opportunities in the Centre and the Interior”, in order to meet “the demand and needs of local communities”, thereby contributing to “greater territorial cohesion”, the company states in a press release.
Rede Expressos’s managing director, Nelson Silva, quoted in the same press release, notes that in the current socio-economic climate, with fuel prices constantly rising, “the pressure is being felt throughout the entire chain, including bus operations.” Despite the current climate, Rede Expressos, as Nelson Silva states, wants to “demonstrate that this increase does not inevitably have to mean more expensive journeys.” Nelson Silva believes that encouraging the use of public transport can bring greater “efficiency, strengthen the network and offer journeys at more competitive prices”.
Tickets for the campaign can now be purchased online and are available via the website and the app. The campaign ends on 12 November, for journeys to be taken up to 30 November.
As a very talkative child, Bruno knew from an early age that communication was his path. When a teacher suggested he should become a journalist, everything clicked. In 2018, aged just 17, he moved to Coimbra to study Journalism and Communication. Bruno has been working at The Portugal News since 2022 and is currently the Editor, and is happy to be part of a media company based where he lived until moving permanently to Coimbra in 2023. His interests include national politics, Portuguese culture and society, and a broad range of current affairs. Outside of work, Bruno loves to travel and considers himself a theatre kid at heart. He is also passionate about music and, at gatherings, will happily take on the role of resident DJ, doing his best to play the greatest 90s R&B hits — with Mariah Carey being a particular favourite. Classic Portuguese literature is another guilty pleasure, with Eça de Queiroz holding a special place among his favourite authors.
