Lamar Jackson is recovering from a left ankle sprain and returned to practice this week ahead of the Baltimore Ravens’ game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The quarterback missed the team’s previous two games because of the injury.
Jackson moved better on Thursday than he did on Wednesday, when he appeared to favor his injured ankle.
Ravens QB shows improved movement ahead of Bengals matchup
Lamar Jackson missed the Baltimore Ravens’ last two games after spraining his left ankle against the Tennessee Titans on October 4. While sidelined, he also showed support for others on the team, earning a positive response from fans. The Ravens are preparing for Sunday’s matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals as Jackson continues his recovery.
Jackson suffered the injury against the Titans after completing 15 of 20 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns. He also gained 20 yards on the ground before leaving the game. The injury kept him out of the second half and sidelined him for Baltimore’s next two games.
The Ravens went 1–1 without Jackson, defeating the Atlanta Falcons 30–23 in overtime before losing 13–10 to the Cleveland Browns. Baltimore now has a 4–2 record as it competes in the AFC North.
Jackson returned to practice on Wednesday, October 21, as a limited participant. He appeared to favor his injured left ankle and showed a noticeable limp during the session. His condition left uncertainty about whether he would be ready to face Cincinnati.
On Thursday, October 22, Jackson was again listed as a limited participant, but his movement looked better than it had the previous day. During the portion of practice open to reporters, he moved comfortably without favoring his sprained left ankle.
ESPN Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley reported that Jackson moved well during Thursday’s practice. He wrote: “Lamar Jackson moved around well during Thursday’s media viewing and didn’t favor his sprained left ankle at all.
During warmups (with no defenders), he made a couple nice deep throws to LaJohntay Wester and Rashod Bateman.”
Jackson threw several deep passes toward LaJohntay Wester and Rashod Bateman during warmups, with no defenders on the field. He participated in throwing drills, but the Ravens continued to list him as limited on their official injury report.
Before his injury, Jackson had recorded 967 passing yards, six passing touchdowns and one interception during the 2026 season. Jackson also recorded 144 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.
Baltimore scored 116 points and recorded 14 touchdowns in games Jackson played. During his two-game absence, the Ravens scored 40 points and recorded four touchdowns.
The Ravens will host Cincinnati at M&T Bank Stadium on Sunday, October 25, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m. ET. The Bengals enter the matchup after their bye week.
Jackson has an 11–2 career record as a starter against Cincinnati, with 3,699 total yards and 26 touchdowns in those games.
The Ravens have yet to announce Jackson’s status for Sunday’s game against Cincinnati. The team’s final injury designation is expected to provide clarity.
