Kebbi Governor, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, has called on politicians and political officeholders to demonstrate genuine commitment to the welfare of their constituents, stressing that political appointments and positions must be backed by service, responsibility and sustained engagement with the people at the grassroots.
The Governor made this declaration in Gulma, Argungu Local Government Area, during an empowerment programme and the flag-off of the distribution of 2027 campaign materials organised by leaders of the Argungu Seven Wards Congress.
Governor Idris commended the organisers and donors for investing in the welfare of their constituents, describing the initiative as an example of responsible leadership that recognises the importance of empowering communities and strengthening grassroots participation.

He urged other political leaders to emulate the gesture, emphasising that holding public office should not become a reason to distance oneself from the people. Rather, political leaders must remain accessible, responsive and committed to providing opportunities that improve the lives of their constituents.
Comrade Idris, however, reminded political officeholders that positions of authority come with responsibilities, noting that those seeking to sustain the confidence of the people must demonstrate their commitment through tangible contributions to their communities.
“If you do not support your people, do not expect them to stand by you. Leaders must return to their communities, reconcile differences and work for the welfare of their constituents.” He said.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Argungu Seven Wards Congress, Alhaji Abubakar Boyi Dallatu, who is also the Rector of Kebbi State Polytechnic, Dakingari, outlined the empowerment items and campaign materials provided by political stakeholders to support residents and strengthen grassroots mobilisation.
The items included 100 motorcycles, 80 sewing machines,100 solar systems, and other materials intended to support youths, women, and other beneficiaries, alongside campaign materials in preparation for the 2027 general elections. The Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Hon Musa Muhammad Tungulawa, donated 50 percent of the total empowerment items, including an Ambulance.
