African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore was involved in another heated confrontation with a lawyer at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, following an alleged derogatory remark directed at the activist.
The incident occurred before proceedings began in Sowore’s ongoing cybercrime trial over social media posts in which he described President Bola Tinubu as a “criminal”.
According to reports, the lawyer, identified only as Yakubu, allegedly referred to Sowore as a “tout”, prompting an angry response from the activist and members of his support group.
The exchange reportedly escalated into a shouting match, with some of Sowore’s supporters allegedly threatening to confront the lawyer after the court proceedings.
The incident took place ahead of the hearing presided over by Justice Mohammed Umar.

On March 24, 2026, the activist had a heated exchange with Senior Advocate of Nigeria Musibau Adetunbi during proceedings at the same court.
The earlier disagreement reportedly began after Adetunbi challenged Sowore for granting an interview to journalists inside the courtroom, arguing that the venue was not appropriate for press briefings.
Sowore rejected the objection and accused the senior lawyer of attempting to intimidate him.
The March confrontation attracted the attention of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), which expressed support for Adetunbi and called for respect for courtroom decorum.
