In his book, Chuck touched upon Anna's unexpected departure from Mom in 2020 ahead of its eighth and final season. He attributed her exit to "mysterious reasons that were not mysterious to anyone on the show."
Anna then reached out to her millions of social media followers and admitted the producer's comments were difficult to read. "Yikes. Yes, I read a few things. I really didn't see that coming. Of course it hurts," she wrote.

"Chuck gave me a job I loved, and for seven years I never took a day of it for granted. I'm proud of what we made together, and nothing changes how grateful I am for those people and those years."

"I've been sober for a year and a half. I was on a show about recovery and then I lived it," she said. "Now I'm healthy, I'm working, and I'm happier than I've been in a long time. If anyone reading this is where I was, I hope that's useful. It gets better. I'm proof."

Anna's revelations come months after fans expressed their concern at the premiere of Spa Weekend in Las Vegas. Many thought she appeared tired and her eyes bloodshot, with some even asking if she was intoxicated.
However, despite going viral for her appearance, her interview answers were branded "crystal clear," and "thoughtful."
At the time, she was also inundated with kind comments noting how she was aging naturally and praising her for the candid red carpet conversations she was having about her life.

Anna shares her son, Jack, 14, with her ex-husband Chris Pratt. She's been open about the challenges of raising a teenager, and told E News: "I'm an older mom. I hope I'm doing ok. I didn't always feel like I fit in with the parents of [Jack's] friends. I always felt like I was kind of messing up somehow."
Anna is married to cinematographer, Michael Barrett, and is a stepmom to his two children from a previous relationship. Chris went on to marry Katherine Schwarzenegger, who he shares three children with.
