Most Friday mornings, I’m excited about two things: Spotify dropping its New Music Fridays playlist and the weekend ahead. But today, I skipped the tunes and headed straight to the Gap to check out the new Gap x Victoria Beckham drop. After teasing the collab on their respective social channels earlier this week, the two have officially released their 37-piece collection consisting of knits, jackets, and pants in stores and online worldwide today.
After the success of their inaugural spring collection, the American heritage brand and the British pop star turned designer have rejoined forces on another collaboration, this time focusing on fall essentials. The two could not be a better pairing: Gap’s classic Americana daywear and Victoria Beckham’s eye for functional and flattering forms bring runway-level designs to the everyday consumer.
Victoria Beckham has always prioritized wearability in her namesake label, and this drop reflects that same mindset. “Each piece was designed to work as part of a modern wardrobe—refined and considered, but still effortless and made to be worn in many different ways,” she said in the press release.
And because this is a fall collection, you’ll find a wide range of knits taking center stage. Everything from merino sweaters ($118) to quarter-zips ($228) as well as a number of styles in Gap’s signature CashSoft texture—its best-selling cashmere-alternative fabric—is ready to shop. A selection of denim is available as well, including a classic high-rise straight jean and a low-slung baggy jean. Personally, I’m more excited about the cool-girl funnel-neck tops and jackets, as well as the cargo skirts, jumpsuits, and English-coded trench and Chesterfield coats. The collection follows a very classic autumnal color palette, with speckles of burgundy, brown, khaki, and deep greens.
I was lucky enough to get my hands on one of the designs early, specifically the Button Turtleneck Merino Wool Sweater. Just as the duo promised, the olive green hue and buttoned collar detail feel like upgrades to a classic silhouette. It’s everyday chic without doing too much or too little.
Victoria Beckham’s sophisticated elegance and ease have always served as my style inspo. I missed my chance to buy into the freshman collab last spring, but this time I won’t be left out of the conversation. With prices ranging from $28 to $368, the only concern I have is that items will sell out faster than I can hit “buy.”
