The police command in Bauchi State has arrested a 40-year-old man, Sallau Inuwa, known as ‘Liman Katagum’, for allegedly stabbing a colleague to death following a heated argument.
In a statement on Friday, Nafiu Habib, the command’s spokesman, said the incident occurred at about 8:30 a.m. on Thursday at a car wash in the state.
He said an argument broke out between the suspect and Ibrahim, 45, over the price per vehicle washed.
“In the heat of the moment, the suspect allegedly picked a sharp knife and stabbed the victim severally.
“Regrettably, despite efforts to save him, Ibrahim was confirmed dead at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi,” Mr Habib said.
He said the police immediately swung into action after receiving credible information that the suspect had fled to his paternal home in the Liman Katagum area.
“Consequently, the operatives were dispatched after him, and the DPO Liman Katagum Division was alerted to arrest him on sight. The swift synergy paid off, leading to his arrest at Mararraban Liman Katagum,” he noted.
The police said the suspect is in custody and that the investigation is ongoing.
He added that the suspect was undergoing a discreet investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi ahead of prosecution.
