US President Donald Trump said he was open to meeting with his Russian and Chinese counterparts and renewed his criticism of Ukraine’s leader, prompting an angry rebuke from Kyiv. Trump’s latest remarks — he echoed prior calls for Ukraine to “get a new president” — come as Ukraine says the US has cut back on sharing intelligence necessary to combat Russian attacks, allegations Washington denies.
The US has also held up the transfer of Patriot interceptors to Ukraine, The Washington Post reported. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has responded defiantly, saying Trump has an affinity for autocrats. Zelenskyy’s open frustration “is certainly a risky strategy,” the Financial Times’ chief foreign affairs commentator noted. “But Trump has not left the Ukrainians with many better options.”
