Nantes owner and president Waldemar Kita has announced that he definitely stopped any talks with Phenix Capital regarding the company’s project to takeover the Ligue 2 side, Les Canaris have officially confirmed. A month ago, a broad agreement was reportedly reached and a sale process entered into exclusive negotiations. But it appears that Phenix Capital could not provide the promised financial guarantees.
FC Nantes add that the prospective buyers also did not transmit to DNCG – Direction Nationale du Contrôle de Gestion, French football’s financial watchdog – the complete file necessary for the validation of such an operation. The Ligue 2 side also says that the takeover project fronted by Phenix Capital was “clearly not serious.”
“The project of this potential buyer did not present sufficient elements to ensure a healthy and sustainable takeover or guarantee the future of the club“, Kita says. “So it was not conceivable to follow up on it and expose all employees to the slightest uncertainty.“
