A jean jacket hand-embroidered by Jacob Misiorowski's fiancée. A No. 82 jersey − remember what happened that year? − with the words "not over it" above. And, a costume contest-winning baseball.
The Milwaukee Brewersbrought the heat for Game 1 of the National League Championship Series vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers Sunday, Oct. 11, at American Family Field − and so did the fans, with their fabulous fits.
Miz, Game 1's starting pitcher, and his fiancée Elle are regulars at the sports card and memorabilia shop Caroline Rhyner's husband works at, Rhyner said.
Rhyner knew Elle customizes her own clothes, including a Brewers jacket and pants with patches that spell out her fiancé's last name.
For Rhyner's birthday, her husband asked Elle if she could make a custom jacket for his wife.
"She did it!" said Rhyner, a Delafied resident
Rhyner said Elle spent three months on the jacket. It has Rhyner's last name on the upper back, American Family Field at the center, a baseball above, beer cans that spell out "Brewers" below, and wheat detailing. The front features a Brewers pennant, and Miz's signature, which Elle embroidered over.
"She needs to get a business or something, because this is like incredible," Rhyner said.
Carol Kok, a Brewers fan since birth, was sporting a custom ensemble, too.
Kok's daughter customized a pinstripe Brewers jersey for her mom with her Cricut that had the No. 82 on the front under the team's name, as well as on the back. Instead of a name across the back, though, it has "not over it."
"I'm not over 1982 World Series, and not winning," Kok said. The Crew made it to the Fall Classic that year, but ultimately, fell to the St. Louis Cardinals.
Kok paired the jersey with a skort that "a very nice lady" made for her, and accessorized with a 1982 championship ring her son got her, Brewers shades, a "Win Our Way" pin and Brewers earrings.
"I'm here to see the Brewers win and we're going to take it on to the World Series," said Kok, a Kenosha resident.
Jackelyn Wicklund, who's been a Brewers fan since she was a young child, dressed up as a baseball.
"I actually have it for times like these," said Wicklund, a Plymouth resident.
She previously wore it for a costume contest, which she won. Thanks, Amazon! She bought dangly baseball earrings to match, and did her eye makeup in Brewers colors, complete with sparkles.
Nine-year-old Claire Roberts' favorite part of Brewers games are the Famous Racing Sausages. Fittingly, she was donning navy overalls with those mascots all over them. She paired them with a light blue long-sleeve that perfectly matched her Converse, as well as a navy bow.
Does she have a favorite Racing Sausage? "No, I like 'em all."
Scott Peters was all decked out, with a cartoonishly jumbo blue hat featuring Brewers patches he added himself, a giant gold chain from Las Vegas with a light-up Brew Crew charm and massive foam ball-in-glove logo − covered in autographs − hanging from it, Brewers basketball shorts, a jersey, Brewers-colored sneakers, Barrelman sunglasses and Brewers rainbow wristbands.
Robin Peters, named after Robin Yount, wore pinstriped white overalls with the ball-in-glove logo on the bib pocket, a Brewers belt bag dressed up with blue pom-poms on each side, Brewers bling on her wrists, Brewers shades − even her nails were Brewers blue.
"I wore these bibs the last few times we won, so this is my rally. This is what I'm going to keep wearing," she said.
"We've been Brewers fans forever. We don't live too far. And, this is our dream is to go to the World Series. We got this. Yeah, Brewers!"
The Crew was victorious over the Dodgers in Game 1. Game 2 will also be played at the Brewers ballpark, on Monday, Oct. 12. The series will then shift to Dodger Stadium for Games 3, 4 and the if-necessary Game 5. If there's a Game 6, both teams would return to Milwaukee, which is where Game 7 would also be played, if needed.
