NO MONEY FOR BOOKS
Approved OSAP funding is reaching students weeks late, making them unable to buy textbooks and lab materials through no fault of their own. In addition, some institutions are pausing their educational programs for the same reason. The government must immediately release outstanding payments, fix the processing delays, and reconsider a funding model that prices students out of their own futures.

(The entire OSAP scheme appears to be a mess all around. Students aren’t paying a steep price for the incompetence)
RADICAL THINKING
With the recent three-year anniversary of the Oct. 7 attacks, I feel like we as Canadians really need to wake up and find our moral voice again. What happened that day wasn’t some standard political dispute over borders or territory. You don’t systematically rape, torture, and kidnap innocent people over a land disagreement. This was a flat-out, ideologically driven attempt to wipe out Jews and eliminate Israel. It’s also impossible to ignore how it was received. Seeing the footage of hostages being dragged into Gaza while crowds cheered, and knowing there was widespread support for it, is chilling. We have to stop making excuses for that. As Canadians, we need to realize this isn’t just a distant conflict that has nothing to do with us. The radical ideology behind Hamas is a direct attack on the Western values we enjoy every day right here — things like democracy, freedom, and basic human rights. It’s an assault on our way of life, too. I really hope Canadians stop being passive and start standing up unapologetically for the values that keep us free.

(Well said. We believe most Canadians would agree with you, but the more than vocal ones who are marching every day and screaming ‘from the river to the sea’ have no moral clarity and are appalling)
STELCO PIVOT
Re: Stelco layoffs, Canada has limited aluminum rolling facilities to manufacture cans; could Stelco adapt? We need all of our Canadian aluminum cans to be made in the U.S. Also, most of our oil is converted to gasoline in the U.S. as well. Larger refineries in Sarnia?

(Adapting would be beneficial)
