Kwesi Asmah scored an 86th-minute winner as Hearts of Oak claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Vision FC in their Ghana Premier League Matchday 7 encounter at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema New Town on Saturday.
With the game seemingly heading for a draw, Asmah broke the deadlock late in the contest to hand the Phobians all three points and extend the momentum gained from last weekend’s narrow victory over Port City FC.
The result provides a timely boost for Hearts as they look to maintain their position among the league’s leading sides after a mixed start to the campaign. They had recorded two wins, two draws and one defeat in their previous five league matches before Saturday’s fixture.
Vision, meanwhile, were hoping to end a frustrating run without a win. Their 4-2 defeat away to Bechem United last weekend had extended that streak to five league matches, leaving them eager to respond in front of their home supporters.
The Tema-based side had been difficult to beat at home, recording one win and two draws in their first three league matches at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex. However, they could not find a response after Asmah’s late intervention.
Hearts’ victory gives them consecutive league wins and another valuable three points as the season progresses, while Vision are left to regroup after missing the opportunity to turn their home form into a result.
Phobians defender Kelvin Osei Asibey was awarded the NASCO Man of the Match for the second consecutive after his defensive masterclass.
