BUSAN — The Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority is partnering with accounting firm Samjong KPMG to expand investment advisory and consulting support for foreign companies and firms operating in the zone.
The authority said on the 21st that it signed a public-private partnership agreement with Samjong KPMG on the 20th at Gangnam Finance Center in Seoul to build an integrated investment-attraction ecosystem called BJ-INVESTIA. Park Sung-ho, commissioner of the authority, and Kim Jin-gui, co-head of Samjong KPMG's consulting services division, attended the signing.
BJ-INVESTIA is a support framework that links public and private resources across six areas needed by foreign companies investing in the Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone: site selection and design, investment and incorporation, financing and incentives, customs and logistics, workforce and settlement, and innovation-driven growth.
Under the agreement, the authority will identify companies' consulting needs and difficulties and coordinate advisory referrals between firms and Samjong KPMG. The accounting firm will provide specialized advisory and consulting services in areas such as investment and incorporation and financing and incentives, tailored to each company's investment plans and business characteristics.
The two sides plan to review the status of advisory referrals and, if needed, draw up detailed cooperation measures through working-level talks. The authority also plans to expand its network of specialized partners in legal and accounting, financing and incentives, and customs and labor affairs, and to extend the support framework to site selection and design as well as innovation-driven growth.
"Systematic support in specialized fields such as tax, accounting and finance is important for companies making investment decisions and running their businesses with stability," Park said. "We will strengthen public-private cooperation to meaningfully resolve the difficulties companies face during the investment process."
