Patrick Mahomes has given the Kansas City Chiefs plenty of reasons to celebrate this season, and that success has brought a welcome change after a difficult 2025 campaign. The quarterback has returned from a serious knee injury and helped his team start the 2026 season unbeaten through five games.
However, the celebrations could soon face a test. With tougher opponents approaching, Mahomes must prepare for a demanding stretch that could challenge his patience on the field. If the Chiefs begin to struggle, Brittany Mahomes could also notice a shift in the mood at home.
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs face a tougher
Kansas City has made an impressive comeback after finishing the 2025 season with a disappointing 6-11 record. Entering Week 7, the Chiefs sit at 5-0 and lead the AFC.
Mahomes has looked comfortable despite his recovery from a major knee injury, while running back Kenneth Walker III has added another threat to the offence. The team's strong start has also helped restore confidence around the franchise. Yet, the schedule has raised questions about how well Kansas City will handle its first major test. The Chiefs have benefited from matchups against teams such as the Indianapolis Colts, Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers.
Their upcoming games could prove far more difficult, particularly with two consecutive road trips against the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos.Seattle enters Week 7 with a 3-3 record, while Denver stands at 4-2. Both games will test the Chiefs' ability to perform away from home, where mistakes can quickly change the course of a contest.Kansas City then faces the New York Jets and Atlanta Falcons before another demanding stretch featuring the Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals.
The Chiefs will also meet the New England Patriots and undefeated San Francisco 49ers later in the season.
Brittany Mahomes could notice a change as pressure builds
For Brittany Mahomes, the Chiefs' early success has brought a welcome break from the frustration that surrounded the team last season. Patrick's return to form has given the family plenty to celebrate, especially after his difficult recovery from a knee injury.
However, the coming weeks could reveal how Kansas City responds when its unbeaten run faces a serious challenge.
A tough loss or a poor offensive performance could put Mahomes under pressure to find answers quickly.Quarterbacks often carry the weight of their team's results, particularly when expectations remain high. Mahomes is no exception. His ability to stay composed and guide the Chiefs through difficult games will matter as much as his passing numbers.Still, a tougher schedule does not guarantee that Kansas City's winning run will end. The team has shown strong coordination on both sides of the ball, and its depth could help it navigate difficult matchups. For now, Brittany and Patrick have plenty of reasons to enjoy the Chiefs' start. The real test begins when the schedule gets tougher and Kansas City must prove that its early dominance can last throughout the season.
