Catholic priest Father Moses Gladson Phiri has spoken out against critics demanding the resignation of Lusaka Archbishop Dr. Alick Banda.
Speaking on Christian Nation FM during the live program Sunday Chat—hosted by Frank Augustine Chakanga—Father Phiri revealed that those undermining the Archbishop are not just external opponents, but internal figures as well.
According to Father Phiri, Dr. Alick Banda faces internal opposition from some priests, some bishops, and local politicians.
The outspoken clergyman argued that these coordinated efforts aim to weaken the leadership of the Archdiocese of Lusaka.
His remarks follow heightened tensions and increased scrutiny surrounding the Archbishop’s recent legal troubles, which involve an arrest over property suspected to be proceeds of crime.
By addressing these internal divisions publicly, Father Phiri highlighted a growing friction within the Zambian ecclesiastical and political landscape.
