The Pokémon Company has announced Dual Fusion, the next major expansion coming to Pokémon TCG Pocket in just over one week. The new expansion will mark the debut of dual-type cards for the game as well as a number of special packs and events to coincide with some big anniversaries. The expansion will be released on Oct. 28 at 6:00 p.m.
Dual Fusion coincides with TCG Pocket's second anniversary, making the expansion's headlining feature feel apt. Dual-type cards, as the name suggests, give Pokémon two types rather than one and open up new strategies for play. For example, Mega Mewtwo X ex is a dual Psychic and Fighting-type card. While dual-type cards have been around for a while in the physical card game, Dual Fusion finally brings them to the mobile counterpart. The dual-type cards all come with some incredible illustrations as well, which you can check out below.
To celebrate the game's second anniversary, a new event will run from Dual Fusion's release until Dec. 14. During the campaign, players will be gifted a ticket that can be exchanged for a booster pack guaranteed to include a two-star card. Later, starting on Dec. 15, players can rent six Dual Fusion decks to test the new cards.
Pikachu and First Partners events coming to Pokémon TCG Pocket
In addition to Dual Fusion's release, Pokémon TCG Pocket also has a couple of special events coming soon that will bring some beautiful cards to the game. The first is Pika Pika! Pikachu Missions, which celebrates 30 years of Pokémon TCG. Starting on Oct. 20, 2026 and running for one year, players can log in for 10 days to obtain a special Pikachu ex immersive card that will only be available during the event. Players can also get Pika Pika! Pikachu packs and accessories.
Starting on Oct. 31, Special Pack: First Partners will be available. These are unique packs opened using special pack stamina, which recovers once a week. Each pack is guaranteed to contain a one-star card, with the cards depicting the first partner Pokémon encountered in each of the nine regions of the Pokémon world. The event will conclude on Dec. 26.
