Grameenphone Academy has recognised three winning teams at its AI Bootcamp, where 80 selected participants developed digital solutions addressing career development, healthcare access and personal safety through practical training in artificial intelligence.
The bootcamp concluded with a pitching and recognition event at GPHouse on 12 October. Part of the academy's broader AI Mission and aligned with Grameenphone's AI&I programme, the initiative offered hands-on learning and product development opportunities, according to the press release.
Grameenphone Academy, the company's free online learning platform for young people, introduced a "No-Code AI Web Development Competition" to help learners put their knowledge into practice. The competition challenged participants to build functional websites using AI prompts without prior programming knowledge.
The competition received more than 210 submissions from educational institutions across Bangladesh. Of these, 80 participants were shortlisted for an intensive bootcamp led by experts.
Following a structured approach of developing ideas, building solutions and testing them, participants identified real-world problems and refined their AI-powered solutions into minimum viable products. Their work focused on three areas: careers, skills and MyGP.
The bootcamp culminated in a pitching event where participants presented their solutions.
The team behind "Trajectory" secured first place. The AI-powered platform assesses users' skills and CVs in real time to provide personalised career guidance, training recommendations and opportunities aligned with their career aspirations.
The team behind "MyGP Care" was named first runner-up. The AI-powered healthcare hub connects users with trusted medical services through smart care navigation.
The second runner-up was the team behind "Project Lifeline", an AI-supported personal safety and emergency preparedness platform designed to help users stay connected and respond effectively during emergencies.
All three winning teams will receive one year of access to premium AI tools, alongside mentorship from subject specialists. The support aims to help them further develop their ideas into practical solutions with employment potential.
The event was attended by Grameenphone Chief Executive Officer Yasir Azman, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Tanveer Mohammad, Chief Financial Officer Otto Magne Risbakk, Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer Andreas Høgberg, and Head of Environment, Social and Governance Farhana Islam.
Other senior leaders and instructors from Grameenphone, along with participating learners from Grameenphone Academy, were also present.
Speaking about the initiative, Yasir said, "As AI continues to reshape the way we learn, work and create opportunities, it is important that young people have access to the skills and practical experiences needed to participate in this transformation. At Grameenphone, this philosophy is reflected in our AI&I strategy, where AI is no longer experimental but increasingly embedded across our people, operations and hyper-personalised customer experiences.
"We believe the future belongs not to AI alone, but to people empowered to use it responsibly and meaningfully. As we build future-ready capabilities within Grameenphone, we are equally committed to extending this ambition beyond our organisation.
"We believe geographical barriers should not limit opportunities. With the right mindset and skills, young people can thrive in both local and global markets, regardless of where they are.
"Through Grameenphone Academy, we aim to go beyond providing access to learning by enabling young people to apply their knowledge, solve real-world problems and create meaningful value. The AI Bootcamp reflects this commitment, helping learners transform their ideas into tangible solutions while building the confidence and capabilities needed to thrive in an increasingly AI-driven world."
