The government has announced the start of the process to recruit Bangladeshi workers for Malaysia, with the Southeast Asian country agreeing in principle to recruit 10,000 workers entirely free of cost and enlist 338 Bangladeshi recruiting agencies.
The Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment disclosed the information in a press release today (15 October).
According to the ministry, Malaysia is one of Bangladesh's most important overseas labour markets, with a large number of Bangladeshi workers employed there for years.
After taking office, the current government has taken initiatives to reopen and expand overseas labour markets that had been suspended or restricted, giving particular importance to Malaysia.
Under the eligibility criteria set by Malaysia's Ministry of Human Resources, Malaysian authorities have agreed to enlist Bangladesh's only government-owned recruiting agency, Bangladesh Overseas Employment and Services Limited (BOESL), along with 25 private processing or service agencies and 312 recruiting agencies.
The total number of agencies approved for enlistment is 338.
