YONGIN — Medifield Hangang Hospital said on the 22nd that Kim Jong-oh, a specialist in emergency medicine, will take office as its new emergency care director on Nov. 1.
Kim completed his internship and residency at Ilsan Paik Hospital. He later served as an adjunct professor at Inha University and as head of the emergency medicine department at Hongik Hospital in Seoul. At Hallym Hospital and Naeun Hospital, both in Incheon, he directed emergency medical centers, overseeing both patient care and center operations.
The hospital said it expects Kim to strengthen its initial response system for emergency patients, drawing on experience gained across a range of emergency care settings. It also plans to reorganize cooperation among departments to improve the efficiency of emergency treatment and the quality of medical services.
Kim is a full member of the Korean Society of Emergency Medicine and the Korean Society of Traumatology. The hospital described him as a physician who has built expertise in emergency medicine and trauma care.
Medifield Hangang Hospital, located in Gimnyangjang-dong, Cheoin-gu, Yongin, operates an emergency care system staffed around the clock, 365 days a year, by on-site emergency medicine specialists. It also maintains a rapid-referral system linking the emergency room to operating rooms and intensive care units, allowing emergency patients to receive prompt and systematic treatment.
"With the addition of Director Kim Jong-oh, who has served as head of emergency medical centers at several institutions, we expect the hospital's emergency care capabilities to be strengthened," hospital president Kang Nam-kyu said. "We will do our best to create a medical environment that local residents can turn to with confidence."
