Former India captain Sourav Ganguly has been appointed as the head coach of Delhi Capitals ahead of the 2027 Indian Premier League.
The JSW and GMR co-owned franchise has been associated with Ganguly in various roles across leagues like IPL and SA20 since 2019 but this will be the first time Ganguly will don the hat of head coach for their IPL team.
Ganguly's history with Delhi Capitals makes his potential arrival as head coach feel less like a surprise and more like a natural progression. The former India captain has been away in South Africa coaching Pretoria Capitals in SA20
For a team that has missed the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, bringing in someone of Ganguly's stature signals that the overhaul is about more than just swapping a few coaches.

India batsman Yuvraj Singh has been roped in as the batting coach. During Capitals' IPL 2027 trials last month, Yuvraj was seen standing behind the umpire's end, watching batters closely and assessing their technique.
Delhi Capitals' middle and top order has been inconsistent in recent seasons, and Yuvraj would arrive with a very specific brief to sort that out.
