Francis Atwoli's fashion fail at Mashujaa Day
In another story, we also highlighted facts about Francis Atwoli’s kaftan-style outfit at the Mashujaa Day celebrations in Eldoret and the online reaction to his unexpected look. The COTU secretary-general’s black pinstripe attire marked a sharp departure from the designer suits and gold chains that have long defined his public image.
At 76, Atwoli drew both criticism and support, with some Kenyans mocking the outfit while others said it suited an elderly statesman at a long outdoor event. But many commenters focused on his designer, Kilobi, with one writing: “Kilobi amelalia kazi buana!”
