PETALING JAYA: Police are tracking down the driver of a black Honda Accord after a van driver was knocked down following a road dispute here yesterday.
The van driver, a local man in his 20s, suffered injuries to his elbow and knee in the incident, which was captured on video and later circulated on social media.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat said police received a report from the van driver at 6.22pm yesterday.
He said preliminary investigations found that a disagreement had occurred between the two drivers while they were on the road.
"The van driver stopped his vehicle and asked the car driver to get out.
"However, the car driver accelerated and struck the van driver's right leg, causing him to fall onto the road and sustain injuries to his elbow and knee," he said in a statement today.
Shamsudin said police had also detected a video of the incident circulating on social media.
The case is being investigated under Section 334 of the Penal Code and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
"Police are working to locate the car driver to assist in investigations," he said.
