A New York City man charged with fatally drugging a Manhattan college student with fentanyl before raping her in her dorm room allegedly sent pictures of his semi-nude victim to his friends — sparking questions about whether she would still be alive if he’d called for help sooner.
The allegedly heartless response of accused sexual predator Moises Freire, 19, after feeding victim Annabel Richter and her roommate fentanyl disguised as cocaine came into focus Friday as the victim’s family mourned who they called “a bright and beautiful young woman.”
“Annabel was full of life,” Richter’s mother, Flavia Rocha, told The Post. “She knew loads about music and art and had a contagious laughter. Her presence filled the room. For us, her family and her friends, she was and always will be, our beloved Bel.”
The grieving mother added: “I don’t want to think of a world in which crimes against women would be too many to count. Bel and I would often discuss how women who suffered violence would rarely have a voice. I hope that Annabel’s story brings awareness, and meets justice.”
Friere had claimed to the women before the March overdoses that he was bringing them cocaine from Mexico, even after he’d tried the fentanyl a week earlier and likened it to “poison,” in a text to a friend, the shocking court papers unsealed Thursday say.
Freire, who was not an FIT student, allegedly gave both of his victims the dangerous drug in their dorm room at the Chelsea college on the night of March 18. Both lost consciousness immediately and were hospitalized, and one died three days later, according to the Manhattan US Attorney’s Office.
Freire, who is being held without bail pending a March 2027 trial, allegedly waited about 45 minutes to contact campus security.
During that time, he allegedly texted photos of the unconscious victims to his friends. One showed the woman he allegedly raped naked below the waist.
He also lied to campus security that the two women were unconscious because they simply had too much to drink — and claimed that he’d somehow not noticed that his victim was passed out until after he was finished having sex with her, prosecutors say.
“It is truly hard to believe that the defendant, who seemed entirely coherent and sober at the time, who didn’t have any of the substance, who is captured on the security guard’s body-worn camera seeming coherent and sober, didn’t know what was going on when he was having sex with the victim who was completely unconscious,” prosecutor Ariana Bloom said at an April court hearing.
Campus security determined the women were suffering from acute fentanyl intoxication and administered emergency services and Narcan before they were rushed to the hospital, prosecutors said.
The woman who was raped never regained consciousness at the hospital and died several days later on March 21, the indictment said.
Friere is due back in court Oct 28 to be arraigned on upgraded charges of distributing a controlled substance with the intent to commit rape, along with other narcotics charges. He faces a minimum of 20 years in prison, and a max of life if convicted.
The alleged sicko’s friend Brian Peralta Cabrera, 18, of Queens, was separately hit with narcotics conspiracy charges for alleging helping Friere get the deadly fentanyl, while a third man, Harry Rosales Pino, has pleaded guilty to narcotics distribution resulting in death.
Public defenders repping all three men did not immediately respond Friday to requests for comment. Friere’s lawyer told the court earlier this year. that the accused rapist had had a consensual “sexual relationship” with his alleged victim in the year before her death.
