NEW DELHI, October 14. /TASS/. Relations between Russia and India remain unchanged despite major shifts in the world, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar said.
India has maintained good relations with Russia since the early years of its independence, and these ties have remained stable. "We (India) are a natural partner for Russia because we have had very good relations with Russia practically from the very beginning," the Indian foreign minister said in a conversation with John Micklethwait, editor-in-chief of the Bloomberg New Economy Forum, at a business forum in New Delhi.
"We assure Russia that, despite all the changes in the world, New Delhi’s relations with Moscow, which have been built over the past 75 to 80 years, remain unchanged, helping improve the balance of power and the overall status quo in Asia. We consider this a good sign," he added.
According to Jaishankar, India is becoming a genuine partner for Russia as Moscow increasingly develops ties with Asian countries. "As a result of the war in Ukraine, Russia has become much more focused on Asia. Apart from India, China is a major part of that picture in Asia. But I believe it is in our interests and in the interests of the world as a whole for Russia to have a choice and other important and meaningful relationships in Asia," the foreign minister noted.
