German Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Rüdiger Lotz today (11 October) delivered a special lecture on diplomacy in an interconnected world at the Foreign Service Academy in Dhaka, highlighting the growing vulnerabilities arising from global economic interdependence and the challenges of multilateral cooperation.
Reflecting on today's global challenges, the Ambassador highlighted a key paradox - economic interconnectedness has increased, but so has vulnerability - a reality underscored by current disruptions to energy supplies.
He also noted that a multipolar world does not necessarily translate into multilateral cooperation, stressing the importance of dialogue and collaboration in navigating an increasingly complex international landscape.
The lecture was delivered to participants of the 32nd Specialized Diplomatic Training Course (SDTC) and the 4th Professional Master's in International Relations and Diplomacy (PMIRD), according to the German Embassy in Dhaka.
The cohort comprised 32 participants, including 26 officers from Bangladesh's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and six diplomats from Botswana, Guyana, Kenya, Nepal, Rwanda and Tanzania.
During the visit, Ambassador Dr Lotz also met with Rector of the Foreign Service Academy Ambassador Nahida Sobhan.
The Ambassador described the session as "stimulating exchange" with the next generation of diplomatic professionals, fostering fresh perspectives on global affairs and the future of international cooperation.
