Russian ballistic missiles struck Kyiv late Oct. 13, as explosions rocked Ukraine's capital moments after an air raid alert was issued, with presidential adviser Dmytro Lytvyn telling reporters that allies had not provided early warning of the launches for the second day in a row.
A nine-story residential building in the city's Desnyanskyi district was struck in the attack and set on fire, Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko reported.
One person was killed, and another four were injured as a result of the Russian strike on the residential building, the Kyiv City Military Administration said.
Air raid alerts were also issued in parts of the far western Lviv, Volyn, and Ivano Frankivsk oblasts.

Ukraine did not receive a warning of the attack from allies in the same way it usually does, presidential Lytvyn said when asked by reporters.
Ukraine Air Force confirmed Russia launched ballistic missiles at Kyiv, also saying that "no information from partners regarding missile launches from enemy territory has been received" today and the day before.
Just a day earlier, sources told the Kyiv Independent that the Trump administration threatened senior Ukrainian military and government officials in a push to protect Russian oil refineries.
"They called all the top military officials with threats," one Ukrainian official told the Kyiv Independent. "They're telling everyone that they're going to turn off both the intelligence sharing and PURL."
