The family of Frelimo Member of Parliament Ana Rita Sithole highlighted her legacy of dedication to education, politics, and public service during the solemn tribute ceremony honoring the former leader, held this Friday, October 23, 2026. Her children remembered her as an exemplary mother who single-handedly assumed the responsibility of raising and preparing the family for life following the death of their father.
In their farewell message, her children stated that Ana Rita Sithole’s passing leaves a profound void within the family and society, but affirmed that the values and teachings imparted by the MP will remain alive across future generations.
The family recalled that following the father’s death, Ana Rita Sithole took on the full responsibility of raising, educating, and guiding her children, confronting hardships with courage, discipline, and determination.
Her children described their mother as a woman of firm convictions who balanced political and social duties with family dedication, consistently instilling principles of responsibility, sacrifice, and commitment to the nation.
On the occasion, they emphasized that for Ana Rita Sithole, education meant not only imparting knowledge, but also molding conscious citizens capable of taking on responsibilities and contributing to building a better society.
The family further underscored her patriotism, noting that the MP taught her children to love and understand Mozambique, advocating that building a dignified and just nation demands effort, sacrifice, and a commitment to justice.
Her children reflected that the loss extends beyond the immediate family circle, given Ana Rita Sithole’s contributions to education, politics, diplomacy, and citizen representation. Consequently, they argued that her life trajectory will endure as an example of dedication to public service and an inspiration for younger generations.
During the ceremony, the family expressed gratitude to the medical teams who cared for the MP, as well as to State institutions, the Frelimo party, the Mozambican Women’s Organization (Organização da Mulher Moçambicana – OMM), and the religious community for their solidarity during her hospitalization and in this time of mourning.
Despite the pain of final farewells, her children pledged to preserve their mother’s memory and transmit the core values that defined her life to her grandchildren and future generations. “We will learn to live without your physical presence, but we will never allow your memory to fade,” they declared in their message of tribute.
