KARACHI: Gadap police have arrested two suspects for allegedly smuggling narcotics concealed in specially designed slippers, SSP Malir Dr. Abdul Khaliq Pirzada said on Tuesday.
According to the SSP, the suspects, identified as Saqib and Kamran, had travelled from Hub Chowki to Gadap with hashish hidden in secret compartments built into their slippers.
Each suspect was carrying approximately one kilogram of hashish concealed in the footwear’s layered soles, police said.
The investigation has also revealed the alleged involvement of a cobbler who reportedly prepared specially designed slippers to conceal and transport the narcotics.
According to SSP Pirzada, the suspected drug traffickers had also devised coded language to communicate with one another and coordinate their supplies.
Police are investigating the suspects’ alleged links to a wider drug-supply network and searching for their accomplices. Their previous criminal records are also being checked, the SSP said.
