KANCHANPUR: Shuklaphanta National Park in Kanchanpur has reopened jungle safari services for tourists visiting during the Dashain-Tihar festive season.
The safari service has resumed, although heavy rainfall has prevented the reopening of all routes inside the park. The main safari route has been made operational to accommodate visitors during the holiday season, said Purushottam Wagle, information officer at the park.
“Jungle safari has reopened, allowing tourists to explore Shuklaphanta during Dashain,” Wagle said. “The route from Majhagaun through Babatal and Ranital to the Shuklaphanta grassland, and onward through Barkaula back to Majhagaun, has been opened for safari.”
The route allows visitors to explore the park’s expansive grasslands and observe wildlife in its natural habitat. Wagle said the remaining internal routes would also be reopened within a week if rainfall subsided.
Meanwhile, the park is carrying out grassland management work across 20 hectares in Phanta to improve habitat conditions for wildlife.
Covering an area of 305 square kilometres, Shuklaphanta National Park is renowned for its extensive grasslands and diverse wildlife. The park is home to several rare and important species and is a major destination for nature and wildlife enthusiasts.
