If there was one defining mood of the Spring 2027 collections, it was lightness—a collective shedding of weight, structure, and restraint. Designers embraced fluidity over rigidity and softness over severity, creating clothes that seem to float around the body rather than contain it. A chiffon blazer and skirt at Dior, silk balloon trousers at Celine, and billowing chiffon gowns at Chanel all captured a sense of ease.
Layering took on an airy quality, while touches of femininity emerged through a subtle embrace of the body. Sheer skirts, visible bras, and translucent layers revealed just enough, while dresses and skirts assumed an ethereal, almost fluid quality, as if they were suspended in motion. Skirts, in every form, took center stage—from minis to knee-length silhouettes to whisper-thin sheers.
Vibrant colors, playful prints, embroidered coats, and embellished dresses brought a welcome sense of joy. Throughout the collections ran an unmistakable feeling of freedom: the most memorable looks and pieces were less about simply making a statement than about moving through the world with a renewed sense of possibility.
Here, some of the key moments and movements that make Spring 2027 a season to look forward to—and one I’m excited to see come to life.
FLOW STATE

Dior, Hermès, Schiaparelli, Louis Vuitton, Khaite, Dries Van Noten.
Chiffon layers, soft silk, fluid plissé, lettuce edges—lightness was a defining moment of the season.
BALLOON SALOON

Alberta Ferretti, Ferragamo, Dior, Valentino, Kallmeyer, Celine.
Balloon pants made a stronger showing than ever, in soft silk, sheer chiffon, and mixed or floral prints.
MAD FOR PLAID

Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier, Dior, Valentino, Mulberry, Altuzarra.
Designers leaned into the pattern’s versatility, pairing it with beaded skirts for evening or leather jackets for day, or mixing it in sheer layers as a suit.
3-D FLORALS

Tory Burch, Khaite, Burberry, Loewe, Dries Van Noten.
Worn alone, an embroidered floral dress is a showstopper; layered over a tee, it gains a sense of ease.
SKY-HIGH HEMLINES

Marni, Miu Miu, Loewe, Chanel, LII, Ashlyn.
This season, the mini comes in every iteration. Whether plaid, leather, colorblock, full-skirted, or split, there’s a version for everyone.
THE NEW CAPRI

Telfar, Chloe, Isabel Marant, Courreges, Dior, Gucci.
This length of pant was already trending, but the new version comes with fun details: lace trim, ruffles, snap closures, or turned-up edges.
LINGERIE DRESSING

Simone Rocha, August Barron, Erdem, Fendi, Altuzarra, Diotima.
Lace-trimmed slips took on a new role as dresses.
MINT GREEN

Conner Ives, Lanvin, Chanel, Prada, Loewe, Kiko Kostadinov.
Mint emerged as the color of the season, bringing some freshness to the palette.
VISIBLE BRAS

Prada, Givenchy, Carolina Herrera, Aisling Camps, Khaite, Zoe Gustavia Anna Whalen.
The bra took center stage this season, lending a subversive sexiness to skirts.
SHEER OVERLAYS

Luar, Calvin Klein, Eckhaus Latta, Loewe, Jil Sander, The Row.
The lightness theme was also visible in skirts made of transparent fabrics.
DESERT CHIC

Celine, Loewe, Balenciaga, Tom Ford, Laquan Smith, Max Mara.
Sun-baked neutrals and warm earth tones were an important palette this season.
TRAILING TRAINS

Brandon Maxwell, Balenciaga, Bottega Veneta, Issey Miyake, Akris, Michael Kors.
Silk scarves tied around the waist and fabric extensions falling from dresses brought a sense of movement to the season.
EMBELLISHED OUTER LAYERS

Celine, Ralph Lauren, Dolce & Gabbana, Dries Van Noten, Burberry, Junya Watanabe.
Embroidered, bejeweled, and brocade coats made a statement.
PLAYFUL STRIPES

Giorgio Armani, Diane Von Furstenberg, Dries Van Noten, Gabriela Hearst, Proenza Schouler, Thom Browne.
Colorful stripes made their mark this season, bringing a graphic energy to the runway.
