The Serbian state TV (RTS) said on Wednesday that the police arrested people suspected to be planning acts of violence on election day.

It said that the police operation in the northern city of Novi Sad was launched against a group of some 80 people who were alleged to be preparing to take part in violence in Belgrade on October 25.
It said the police conducted searches of homes and other premises used by the suspects.
In a separate operation, a man was arrested in the spa resort town of Vrnjacka Banja on suspicion of calling for the violent overthrow of constitutional order and planning to participate in unrest in Belgrade on election day.
Serbian voters will go to the polls on Sunday, October 25 to cast ballots for a new parliament.
