OTTAWA – Canadian receiver Nick Mardner, the second pick of the 2024 CFL draft, was released Thursday by the Ottawa Redblacks.
Ottawa also let American receiver Binjimen Victor go.
The Redblacks drafted Mardner following his college career at Auburn.
The six-foot-six, 208-pound native of Mississauga, Ont., began his American university tenure at Hawaii (2018-21), then transferred to Cincinnati in 2022 before heading to Auburn for a sixth and final season.
Mardner had three catches for 23 yards in nine games this season with Ottawa (0-16).
He registered 26 catches for 300 yards and three touchdowns over 18 contests as a CFL rookie but missed all of 2025 recovering from knee surgery after being injured during an intrasquad scrimmage.
The six-foot-four, 200-pound Victor had two catches for 32 yards in two games this season with Ottawa. He registered 32 receptions for 331 yards and a touchdown over 15 regular-season contests last year with Edmonton.
