Leave it to Kim Kardashian’s longtime friend Olivier Rousteing to give her a fashion-lover’s dream birthday gift: the keys to the Rabanne archive.
Last night, surrounded by family, Kardashian celebrated her 46th at Tuscan steakhouse Baldi at the Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills in two pieces of vintage couture, designed by Paco Rabanne himself. While Rousteing has yet to show his first collection for Rabanne, he did hand-select two fall 1995 haute couture looks for Kardashian to wear to dinner.

Kardashian arrived at the restaurant in look 21: a green crystal-trimmed mesh minidress with a plunging neckline and high slit. Styled by Law Roach, she completed the look with a retrofuturistic chainmail headpiece riddled with oversized emerald green stones draped over her dome. But wait, there’s more! The reality star had an outfit change at the ready for her exit, opting for look 22 from the same collection—a fuchsia replica of her first dress. While she accessorized with another headpiece (this one with smaller red cabochons), she also added an oversized crystal pendant necklace.

Paco RabanneWhile Rousteing has yet to offer a glimpse of his vision for Rabanne, perhaps this is a wink and a nod. “For me, fashion has always been about connecting the past, the present and the future,” Rousteing tells Vogue exclusively. “I believe we need to understand the stories that came before us to create something meaningful today, and something even more powerful tomorrow.”
