A former Nebraska football coach pulled a major upset on Saturday afternoon. Scott Frost and the UCF Knights (4-3, 2-2) defeated the No. 2 BYU Cougars (6-1, 3-1) 39-31 in double overtime.
The victory was Frost's first over a ranked team since UCF defeated No. 8 Auburn 34-27 in the Peach Bowl on Jan. 1, 2018. That was his last game with the Knights before becoming head coach at Nebraska.
The former Husker quarterback had a tumultuous coaching tenure in Lincoln, leading the Cornhuskers from 2018 to 2022. He ended his time with a 16-31 record, including a 10-26 record in the Big Ten. He returned to UCF for a second stint in 2025.
Frost struggled against ranked teams at NU, going 0-14. The Huskers have a 32-game losing streak against ranked opponents, with the last win coming against Oregon on Sept. 17, 2016.
UCF returns to action this Friday when the Knights host Baylor. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT on ESPN.
