Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will regain control after authorities contain terrorism in the province.
Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Chaudhry said the federal government aims to eliminate terrorism and establish lasting peace across KP. He added that authorities would clear 12 terrorism-affected districts of militants before returning administrative control to the provincial government.
The minister said the constitutional requirements for imposing emergency and governor’s rule in KP had been completed. He added that the province had entered the third phase of the process for which the emergency was imposed.
Chaudhry said the federal government’s main priorities were ending terrorism, restoring peace and promoting development. He noted that some areas of the province contained safe havens for militants, making security operations necessary.
He also said the government had prepared a roadmap to address public grievances and carry out development projects. According to the minister, KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi had assumed full control of the provincial government’s powers. However, Chaudhry said the federal administration would not engage in political interference in the province.

Chaudhry added that the government remained open to meaningful negotiations and would welcome the opposition if it approached talks seriously.
The federal government has cited security concerns and counterterrorism efforts as reasons for imposing emergency and governor’s rule in KP. Chaudhry said authorities would focus on clearing affected districts, restoring lasting peace and supporting development. He maintained that the province’s administrative responsibilities would return to its elected government after terrorism came under control.
