Arkansas couldn’t hold off a late rally from then-No. 15 Tennessee last week, dropping a 24-17 decision at home when the Volunteers got the go-ahead touchdown with 1:57 remaining. The Razorbacks went up 14-7 late in the third quarter when KJ Jackson found Jaden Platt for a four-yard touchdown pass and tied the game on Max Gilbert’s 55-yard field goal with 7:25 to go. Jackson threw for 155 yards, Braylen Russell scored a rushing touchdown and the defense logged two interceptions.
Vanderbilt comes off a 52-17 thrashing from visiting Ole Miss, then ranked No. 9, with the game getting away from them as the Rebels scored 28 second-quarter points to take a 42-3 halftime lead. Jared Curtis finished 19-of-32 for 222 yards and a touchdown while throwing two picks. Jamazell Lassiter scored on the ground and Ja’Cory Thomas had a TD reception.
The Razorbacks lead the series 7-3 while the Commodores won the last meeting between the teams at Arkansas 45-31 in 2018.
Curtis has 968 yards with five touchdown passes and five interceptions for Vandy, with Junior Sherrill coming in with 33 receptions, 529 yards and three scores. Jackson enters play with 1,193 yards, seven touchdowns and four picks for Arkansas, with Chris Marshall catching 42 balls for 605 yards and two scores and Sutton Smith leading the team with 166 rushing yards.
